Sounds as pointless as expected, and it seems strange that they've tried to anthropomorphise The Thing by giving it recognisable motivations. I always felt that it was more viral - its only purpose to survive - and that it had not necessarily been responsible for the construction of the ship it arrived in.

Daresay I'll watch it on TV or DVD at some point in the future, but not worth a trip to the cinema, it appears.
