Margaret Thatcher, with her pig-headed stubbornness and complete lack of empathy for anyone who dared to disagree with her or who had come from a different, less cock-sure background, as well as her vicious espousal of greedy self-interest over community values, sowed the seeds that destroyed British society and led inevitably to the Pyrrhic triumph of corporate and banking criminality over common sense economics and the scenes of complete disenfranchisement we witnessed last summer, and the worse scenes to come this year, when the pain really starts to bite (mark my words). Even the Labour Party fell under the spell of her cobra's gaze for too many years, because everyone thought the good times of rampant capitalism would go on forever. Only an urgent return to the truly Christian values of Socialism can save this sorry land and put right the grotesque imbalances of social justice that she and her oily cronies so tenderly nurtured.

The woman's a £*#@ing #$*%!! And that's me being respectful of her age...

I get the feeling you don't like her very much then, Stevie?

(I agree with you entirely, by the way)

It should also be remembered that at a meeting she proposed the ethnic cleansing of Catholics from Northern Ireland. Didn't The Comic Strip film THE STRIKE feature Meryl Streep playing Mrs. Arthur Scargill? Close...

And hasn't it come out recently that she wanted Liverpool flattened, or some such? Thatcher I mean, not Meryl Streep.

That blog Frank links to - what makes him think that she'll get a State funeral? If that happens, it would be such an obvious misinterpretation of the mood of the country (much better things to do with our money) that it would cause riots left, right and centre imo.

Was it Gordon Brown who recently had her portrait hung in No. 10?

Caroline - she'll get a state funeral. As disgraceful as that might seem, she'll get one.

Proto - hung, hopefully.

Many times, Tony, and I'll never stop saying it.

The 1980s was when the rot really set in and no amount of rewriting history can change that...
