I've just posted this call out on Facebook, but if anyone here hasn't seen it I'm looking for suggestions for places who might be looking for artists for cover design. I'm very new in it but trying to stretch myself a bit each time. Anyone any ideas? Thanks - yes, it's my 'Gis a job' plea! |

Tony, you're a natural at cover design. Build up a portfolio of the kind of material you've shown me and you'll be snapped up in no time. Only thing is you won't be able to pick and choose the kind of books you illustrate. |

I've been so very lucky with my book covers over the years. See them all collected here: http://nullimmortalis.wordpress.com/2012/08/06/ive-been-lucky-with-book-covers/ |

How much input do authors get into the covers of their books normally? |

Depends on the publisher. |

I've been lucky with covers too – and as much so where I wasn't consulted on the design or choice of image as where I was. But then, I've never had a mass-market publisher. I think the consultation level depends rather on the type of publisher: Specialist small press: "What image/artist would you prefer?" Specialist commercial publisher: "We think something weird by xxx would be great, do you agree?" Mass-market publisher: "Skull." |
