Or maybe it's meant as a joke. From a Clark Ashton Smith forum: Bollix! Moorcock's not as crap as Terry Pratchett or that other one, the rats-and-killer-slugs one > Ramsey Campbell? Yes. Moorcock's not as crap as Terry Pratchett or Ramsey Campbell, but he's still bloody crap. |

The truth is out! Ramsey Campbell is Shaun Hutson!! And the heavens came crashing down... I quite enjoyed 'Erebus' back in the day, sir. |

It all makes sense now. I always thought that The Grin of the Dark read like a thematic sequel to Breeding Ground |

Remember the bit when the slugs go up the guy's arse while he's sitting on the bog and eat him from the inside. One of Ramsey's most nightmarish images. How does he do it? |

Perhaps there is no "Ramsey", no "Hutson", no "King" - just one single absurdly prolific author, churning out hundreds of books, one after the other after the other. Of course, it that were the case then he/she would have probably have pounded their fingers into stumps by now... |

It's all Edgar Allen Poe. He's been a brain in a jar since he died. It was only in the late 70's/early 80's they worked out how to hook him up to a word processor. |

"just one single absurdly prolific author, churning out hundreds of books, one after the other after the other." That'll be Albie. He's writing this too. |

There's a fine article on American Decadent literature by rj krijnen-kemp in the current issue of Wormwood that puts particular emphasis on Clark Ashton Smith while placing him in a more relevant literary context than the pulp magazines. Fascinating stuff. |
