Just wondering if any of you can recommend a good place to say in Leicester if I'm going to AltFiction in April? I'm still undecided about going - but I'm veering towards saying "yes" to it. So, what I'm looking for is somewhere which isn't too expensive, but is quite close to the venue so that I'm not having to walk a long way on my own late at night. Any thoughts please? The last time I went to an AltFiction in Derby I ended up leaving the guest house to go home at around 5am because I couldn't sleep due to the noises coming from the room next door. I'll leave it to your imaginations as to what those noises might have been. I obviously don't want to end up in another place like that! Thanks for your thoughts on possibilities here ... |

Sadly, no place is guaranteed free of human sacrifice. Or of possessed cats. Or of things that should not exist. Sorry, that's just the way it is. |

Did they charge by the hour, Caroline? |

@Joel and Stevie - Funnily enough, we'd been warned about a place in Derby which DID charge by the hour, and I managed to avoid that one. Problem is, I ended up in a similar kind of place! So, no other thoughts, then, on good but sensibly priced places to stay in Leicester city centre? |

Consult Tripadvisor, Caroline. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g186334-Leicester_Leicestershire_England-Hot els.html The one recommended on the alt.fiction site gets generally very good reviews. |

Thanks, Ramsey - I'll take a closer look at those. Unfortunately, I found the one in Derby I referred to above on one of those reviews sites - you can't always guarantee they're as good as they say! I'm still totally undecided about AltFiction - whether to go at all, whether to just go for one day, whether to drive or go by train, etc, etc. I'll make up my mind eventually! |

I don't think it is. Not sure, as I can't remember what it was called or where it was exactly. Perhaps tripadvisor is the best of these sites, and I was using another less reliable one? My brain's gone nowadays - I just can't remember. I think I'm going to have to go to AltFiction to see all you folks again. Just got to decide how to get there and where to stay now ... |
