Chuffed to announce that the next volume in my series of regional UK horror anthologies, TERROR TALES OF THE COTSWOLDS, is now ready to pre-order from Gray Friar Press. It includes 12 original works of horror fiction and two classic reprints, from such luminaries of the genre as Ramsey Campbell, Reggie Oliver, Chris Harman, Gary McMahon, Alison Littlewood, John Llewellyn Probert, Simon Clark, etc. For the full TOC, cover art, back cover blurb and so forth, feel free to check my blog - http://paulfinch-writer.blogspot.com/, or go straight to the Gray Friar page - http://www.grayfriarpress.com/catalogue/cotswolds.html. |

I'll be buying a copy of this for sure! I spent one summer during college working in a hotel in the Cotswolds - supposed to be haunted. I actually had a strange experience whilst cleaning one of the rooms there (no rude comments please - not *that* kind of experience!). I didn't know about the supposed haunting at the time I experienced it, but someone told me afterwards. It'll be interesting to see if that hotel gets a mention. I guess you've done the same as before - ie. putting little bits of "true" folklore, etc, in between the stories? Anyway, I'll be off to order soon ... |

I'm definitely planning on buying the Lake District book when the next time I have some spare cash for first-hand books (or first-hand anything) again. It's a great idea for a series of anthologies, I'm just wondering if there are plans to cover anywhere in Scotland at some point? |

Caroline - it is indeed a similar format to the last. The full TOC is on my blog, and this indicates which incidents of 'true' horror we have gone for. As before, these intersperse the fictional tales. David - there are plans to cover Scotland, both the Highlands and the Lowlands, hopefully as separate books, but that's a little way down the line at present. We're aiming to do two books a year, but obviously these plans are sales-dependent. |

I'm hoping you do the northeast...I have a great Lambton Worm story I want to write. |

The northeast is certainly scheduled, Gaz. But it's not quite imminent. |

Wot! No Yorkshire? Nevertheless, I've still ordered the Cotswolds book. I really enjoyed the Lake District one. Looks like a Steve Upham cover again too? Very nice! |

Except Lancashire. Bring the whole series down, that would. |

For that, we're doing Yorkshire last. |

No - for Yorkshire do slapstick comedy stories instead of Horror. Fill it with men shouting "Eck Ee thump" and hitting each other over the head with sticks of rhubarb. That'll teach him. |

>>We're missing nowhere out.<< How about the West Country - my place of birth/upbringing? Plenty of strange places and odd goings-on there. Neolithic burial mounds, etc, etc. Weber - the forced rhubarb harvest was poor this year - too dry, apparently. |

Yep, the West Country as well. But we mustn't run before our horse to market. The next one is already cast, and is TERROR TALES OF EAST ANGLIA. |

It's just that, as you can see, I'm excited about this series. I can see me getting a whole collection of them - like the Pans. |

I'd love to see this develop as a series. Great stuff. Gary M, I've been to the place where the Lambton Worm caused its trouble. I remember a steep hill and my illustration from the Usborne Book of Monsters (1979 or thereabouts). |

I still have that very book, Steve, in the combined 'Usborne Book Of The Unknown' format. The knight covered in spikes slicing the worm into segments. Also have the sci-fi one. |

I was brought up about a mile away from where the Lambron Worm did it's stuff. I always used to think it was curled up, sleeping, beneeath Penshaw Monument (I bet Tony used to think that, too). |

I was the sort of kid who would have gone digging for the thing. But then I once saw the end of a rainbow, on a beach in Donegal, and went digging for gold! The other title is 'The Usborne Book Of The Future'. Those wonderfully illustrated books had a powerful effect on my imagination as a young teenager. I would never part with them. |

My copy of "Terror Tales of the Cotswolds" arrived today - many thanks to Gary, Paul and all the contributors! I must say, Steve Upham's cover art for this series so far has been absolutely excellent. I'm sure the contents of this one will be just as good as the first too. Looking forward to reading this! |

What about Terror Tales of Merseyside? Although I fear Ramsey has already marked that territory, it would be interesting to have another take on 'God's Country'. |

Merseyside will figure in TERROR TALES OF THE NORTH-WEST (or some title similar). Scheduled for late 2013 (though schedules can slip a little). |

I've always thought, Caroline, that Yorkshire is such a disturbed and disturbing place that it can pretty well carry its own anthology. So TERROR TALES OF THE DALES (working title) has got to be on the list somewhere. |
