I've loved them all for a while now! I only noticed recently that they have a slight tinge at the back of the brain about TARDIS... |

The last one, easily. That figure. |

I like the colour scheme of the top one best but the bottom one is more effective because of the figure. |

Thanks, that's interesting, Gary. But there something minimal about not having a figure to absorb the attention that attracts me. Like listening to Philip Glass music? |

I suppose one could always imagine a figure - or something else - standing in the shadows of the open doorway. I go for the top one but with the niggling doubt that it still lacks some element of drama. |

Thanks, Stevie. If you look closely, I think there might be a face in the top three behind the window. And some other things in the darkness behind the 'tower'? At one stage I was yearning to see the image with its base showing. i.e no door and squat. But I was reminded about Sooty's hem. |

...also I think they are more effective with a white website background, as here in the sidebar: http://expenscusil.wordpress.com/ |

I'm the same as Stevie - I like the colour scheme of the first, but the figure in the last one. Could Tony perhaps change the background within the tower on the first one and put a shadowy figure in there? But you're right. If you look closely behind the window in the first one there does seem to be something lurking in there - perhaps it just needs to be made a tiny bit more obvious (but not *too* obvious)? |

Given the title, 'The Last Balcony', what about having a strand of diaphonous material just disappearing at the bottom of the picture? |

If the publisher eventually decides to confirm this his chosen cover design from Tony's artwork, I shall be very pleased. I believe there will also be artwork inside for the two novellas, by Tony, hopefully. |

Thanks, everyone. There's another one Tony has shown on his Facebook that reminds me of Henri Rousseau. The whole Tony project on this reminds me the development in the Close Encounters 'sculpture' (in a nice way!). |

This is not Tony's. Nothing that Tony has seen before. It is an ornament I've had for some years, originally found in a junk shop in Walton on Naze and it sits on my mantlepiece.

I like the top one. The figure in the bottom one is a cheap addition imho, but it might help, because people expect that sort of thing on the cover of a horror book. |

I agree that Horror fiction covers have often seemed to be sui generis. Till Tony came along. |

I disagree - in recent years, some of the horror covers by the likes of Vincent Chong and Ben Baldwin, et al, have been astonishing and groundbreaking in terms of abandoning the usual genre imagery. |

Hard to believe that Tony created that haunting red indian figure out of plasticine!! I've told him he should take up serious sculpture. The man's talent is wasted as far as I am concerned. The way he is able to integrate photography, painting and 3D figures into such strikingly original yet somehow primal imagery is startlingly impressive. Well done, sir! |

"Hard to believe that Tony created that haunting red indian figure out of plasticine!!" You're kidding? I'd assumed it was a photo of a statue. Is that really plasticine? Amazing work! |
