...as it says here:-

I'll probably not bother with the Australian set now; may as well wait for this, even though I already have most of them.

At long last! But the ones they released earlier were very expensive - I hope these are a bit cheaper.

At long last is right!

You know I've yet to see 'The Stalls Of Barchester Cathedral' or the recent adaptation of 'Number 13'.

Stevie - the recent version of "Number 13" didn't really do it for me, likewise "A View from a Hill". Still, another viewing of it can't hurt!

I thought 'A View From A Hill' was excellent, Mick. Miraculously faithful to the look and spirit (sorry) of the 1970s originals.

I've just realised I've also yet to see 'The Treasure Of Abbot Thomas'!

One hell of a treat in store... if I can afford these box sets.

'The Treasure of Abbot Thomas' is good - my favourite of these is probably "A Warning to the Curious", although I love Miller's "Whistle" too.

As I've said on here before the single most terrifying moment of my life was unwittingly being allowed to watch the BBC adaptation of 'Lost Hearts' on Christmas Day, 1973, as an 8 year old child who hadn't experienced anything more scary than 'Doctor Who' (which had me behind the sofa with everyone else) up until that time. I remember going into white-faced silent shock and being plagued with nightmares about those children for a long time afterward... and I loved every bloody moment of it.

I will need to check Ramsey's stuff is still in the set though - I'll not sell the old DVDs until I'm sure I'm not missing anything.

Of the Ghost Stories for Christmas and related works that I've seen, I'd rank them:

1. 'Lost Hearts' (1973)
2. 'Whistle And I'll Come To You' (1968)
3. 'A Warning To The Curious' (1972)
4. 'The Signalman' (1976) by Charles Dickens, of course
5. 'The Ash Tree' (1975)
6. 'A View From A Hill' (2005)
7. 'The Ice House' (1978) - original screenplay

And I've yet to see:

'The Stalls Of Barchester Cathedral' (1971)
'The Treasure Of Abbot Thomas' (1974)
'Stigma' (1977) - original screenplay
'Casting The Runes' (1979) on ITV
'Schalken The Painter' (1979) by J. Sheridan Le Fanu
'Number 13' (2006)

Yep, I'm bored, and that was fun...

>>'Schalken The Painter' (1979) by J. Sheridan Le Fanu<<

That's well worth a watch! I saw that at the Fantastic Films Weekend in Bradford one year. Very well done, very scary.

Lost Hearts terrified me when I first saw it as a kid too! (and still does!)
