I haven't read any of Carroll's short fiction but you all know my opinion of the man's writing. No one gets under my skin more. So that looks like a pretty much essential collection.

I'm currently scanning the interweb for an affordable copy of 'From The Teeth Of Angels' (1993) so I can complete the sextet.

His stories Tired Angel, Mr Fiddlehead and a Quarter Past You are among the most disturbing horror stories I know.

There was a great self-contained short story, told by one of the characters, in one of the sextet novels. It was about an imaginary friend who comes to life in corporeal form. I think it might have been in 'A Child Across The Sky'. Do you know the one I mean, Weber?

I see this new book also includes the novella, 'Black Cocktail'! I may have to shell out for this collection even though it is out of my normally acceptable price range. Jonathan Carroll is one of very few writers I'd do that for.

I think that's a modified form of Mr Fidddlehead

Yes, it is.

This volume basically incorporates Carroll's first collection, The Panic Hand, a couple of hard-to-find novellas and a bunch of new stories. Think I might have to order this one too...

Simon, I was wondering whether I really needed this new collection, having bought The Panic Hand when it came out ('96, I think). It does seem to have quite a few additional stories, so I may have to get it...
