My favourite film festival of the year is coming soon, the Fantastic Films Weekend at the National Media Museum in Bradford over the weekend of 15-17 June: http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/nmem/fantastic/2012/ There seem to be quite a few films which don't look too interesting to me (I'm going to show my ignorance here - what's Grindhouse?), but there is a Hammer Horror strand with some unusual films showing (http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/nmem/fantastic/2012/Hammer-Gothic.asp) along with .. * drum roll * .. "The Quatermass Xperiment" - wooo-hooo! Also, an on-stage interview with Renee Glynne, Hammer script supervisor/continuity person - sounds interesting! Not to mention the answer to every Whovian's dream - they're showing lots of "Doctor Who" episodes from way back in their TV Heaven strand. Looking forward to this .... If anyone from here is going, give me a shout. Would love to meet up with you! |

Well, I'm even more excited about this film festival now (even if no-one else here seems to be ). I've got myself a press pass for the event - to do a festival review and guest interview for the rather excellent This Is Horror website (I've just started doing some interviewing for them - more on that later)! The person I'll be interviewing is Renee Glynne. I see that she also worked on "Nothing But the Night", from Lee and Cushing's short-lived Charlemagne Productions. I really *must* ask her about that. So now I need to do some research about her, to think up some suitable questions to ask ... I'm very excited indeed! |

Well done, Caroline! It does sound like fun and I'm glad you're doing interviews. We won't be at that one, unfortunately, but have a lovely time! |

Thanks, Kate and Ramsey - I wish you could be there too. The last time I did the "press thing" at this festival a few years ago it was great fun - interviewing Peter Duffell, director of "The House That Dripped Blood". I'm hoping this is going to be as enjoyable. I'm thinking this year I might try to get to the other film festival, the Fantastic Films Festival over in Manchester in September - especially since I'm not going to FantasyCon this year. Might see you there if I do! |

Hey, Renee Glynn has been involved in quite a few horror films (not just Hammer)! And Rosie Dixon Night Nurse, for which I had to interview one of the starlets for the BBC, a ghastly task that shows up in "Midnight Hobo". |

Yes, she has! And she's continued working till quite recently - on all kinds of film and TV work - though she can't be very young. I didn't know about "Rosie Dixon Night Nurse" though! My remit, though, will be purely to look at her horror films - as it's for the This Is Horror site. |

As a PS to the above, when I interviewed Peter Duffell, he got most enthusiastic talking about his work on the Milky Bar Kid adverts! But I couldn't include that in the interview which was published as it was for a genre 'zine. |
