Not giving a fuck about anyone would help. Then when they turn round and kick you in the teeth it doesn't hurt so fucking much. Seriously, what is the fucking point in caring about other people? At least I know the cat wants me just as a supplier of food and a comfy place to sit and isn't going to turn round and betray every piece of support, attention and love I've ever given it. | ||

Trouble with that, Mark, is that life casts us in the role the idiot mime who has to dance to HJ's voice. Without even the option of scattering his master's teeth over the TV studio floor. Alcohol too is a mimic. When people are good to you it brightens their benign smile. When they're not it copycats their betrayal. It puts its arm around you and says, come with me, I'm your mate. Then when the blues arrive, or the police, it fucks off and leaves you alone. Take it easy, Weber. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. | ||
