Wonderful actor. As with Bradbury, he'd had a long, rich and successful life and career, but even so, the world feels that little bit smaller without him.

On the other hand, here's how he answered the question as to the secret of his longevity and good health...

On this evidence, I can probably expect to reach 137, at least. :-)

That's amazing. Something true on Fox News.

Like Eric Sykes, he's someone I was surprised to hear was still alive, but pleased they made it this far.

What constitutes "a lot"?...

He was spry and active (er, career-wise) up to the very end. Always seemed happy, and made the actors around him shine.

That is HYSTERICAL!

Simon - I'm with you!

But you know what - maybe he's right; the desire to have pleasure and still be excited is probably linked to some inner 'engine'. We have a relative suffering dementia and he has no interests. He can barely read a paper. *Feeling* like you fancy a wank is probably a key to wanting to keep going.

Tony- I hadn't thought of it like that, but that's an interesting idea!

Mind you, I've heard somebody claim that he really said 'My pastor paid a lot' and I'm just being dirty-minded...

'My pastor paid a lot' is actually quite baffling though!
Nah - stick with the muck.

Indeed I'll miss him: "Vera Cruz"; "Marty"; "The Dirty Dozen": and "the Wild Bunch." Thank you, Mr. Borgnine!
