Alas, Harry Harrison died today - a great guy. We still have his work at least. And I think he might be amused to learn from Wikipedia that not only was he 87 when he died, he was born at that age too. That's sf for you!

Very sad. I never met him but his novels were a large part of my teenage years.

Very sad news. Another great sci-fi writer. The 'Deathworld' trilogy & 'Bill, The Galactic Hero' (the ultimate spoof of 'Starship Troopers') are the works I know him for. I've always meant to try the 'Stainless Steel Rat' series as well. Laugh out loud humour is a rare quality in genre fiction and he had it in spades.

I've read Bill the Galactic Hero and the Stainless Steel Rat books. Another fine talent passing away from us.
