I think there are a few PBoH fans here on the RCMB, aren't there? If so, you might want to support Johnny Mains' Facebook petition to Pan MacMillan to try to bring them back. The more "likes" he gets on this page, the better!

That's cruel. You have to have a FB account in order to vote!

Yes, sorry, Hubert. I guess that was the best way Johnny thought he could promote it. I'll see if I can find out if he's going to add any other method of voting. I've only just joined FB myself and I totally respect your reasons for not wanting to be on there.

.. and the good news is he's going to be setting up a website for this soon. So you'll be able to vote even if you're not on FB

1,194 'likes' and counting.

Unfortunately, looks like it might have been invaded by a cretin right at this moment...

Does petitioning for this kind of thing work? Online I'm inclined to vote, but in reality will be very unlikely to buy the book, even though I'd like to. I don't want to pressure a publisher into publishing a book that only a percentage of the voters will buy.
I hope that doesn't sound awful - in reality I WANT there to be Pan books.

Who knows whether it will work or not, Tony. Johnny does have some clout with Pan MacMillan - he did persuade them to republish the original first PBoH, after all. But I honestly don't know if it would work.

Me? I'd buy them for sure. But only you know whether you feel it's worth voting "yes" if you know you won't buy them. It would be nice to make new PBoHs available for a new generation to enjoy though, wouldn't it?

No, of course not! There are a few posts in there by someone by the name of "Skye Mcenzie" that look like they've been created by either a troll or an evil bot.

I'd buy them. But not if they were like the Clarence Paget volumes.

Let's face it, they can never be the way they were, can they? Unless he's planning to do complete re-issues . . .

Yes, but this is PBoH for a new generation, Hubert. Obviously we feel nostalgic about the books we loved when we were kids (and I agree with Joel - the earlier volumes were the best), but this is PBoH for TODAY.

Positive thinking! I like that.
