I've been going to FCon on and off since 1983. A friend (who shall remain nameless but is Scottish!) has been going even longer, since the late 'seventies. He said, last weekend, that he felt the convention had been almost taken over by book launches, and that the panels seemed to be almost elbowed out of the way to make way for the launches. Any thoughts on that? Personally I'd not really noticed but there were a lot of launches (a fair few of which I attended). |

To be honest I don't really go to many of the panels unless they're about something I'm really interested in. I spend most of my time chatting to people instead. That said, there are way more launches than there used to be. It used to be a big deal to launch a book at FantasyCon, now all the new titles just get lost in the shuffle. |

Quite! I went to the Mark Gatiss interview and the first hour of the entertainment and that was it for me - beer, food and good company the rest of the time. |

You know, I don't think I went to any panels this year. Attended a few readings, and the Joe Lansdale interview, but apart from that I - like Stu - spent most of the time blethering. |

I went to the Joe Lansdale interview, the first half of the raffle, watched about 10 mins of the entertainment and went to one book launch 'cos it was an anthology where I knew a bunch of the contributors so I basically chatted to friends while they signed the book. The rest of the convention was pure chat. Apart from the disco of course. |

It's all a bit like being a student and having to choose between going to lectures and the Union. Nuff said. |

I attended, and participated in, Allen's poetry session, tried to sell a few books, didn't launch any, dined on Saturday night with that FCon stalwart and one-off, Charles (and a few others), attended no panels and spent most of the time talking my throat hoarse. Cheers Terry |

I went to a bit of everything. Launches seemed to be as well as, rather than instead of panels. Personal preference which you chose to attend although I didn't notice any panels giving away free wine. |
