I've seen some quite impressive vintage-style posters for new horror clicks lately and thought I'd collect a few and share them here.

I like the bottom two best. Mr. Jones has a terrible review, I found online; but In Fear has a pretty good one, sounds intriguing.... |

I actually like 'Willow Creek' best. It has a touch of 70s horror book covers about it. The bottom one is a lovely creepy image that says much about why we find plants scary. The other two are just okay. |

Hellmouth is ok, the last three are great. Posters, that is. People like seventies design now. It's bold, has a slightly botched feel that somehow has an air of antiquity about it. Even in the seventies they felt old - you were brainwashed into fear before you even walked through the door. But then the fact that even posters for comedies felt creepy makes you realise the 'creepy air' was probably a complete mistake. |

Yeah, the Mr Jones poster is definitely my favourite, it blew me away when I first saw it. It really feels like a lot of film-makers are out distance themselves as much as possible from glossy homogenised Hollywood horror, or low budget crap dressed up as glossy Hollywood horror. |

This isn't exactly in the spirit of the thread but I couldn't think where else to put it. An artist has done some really quite wonderful posters for old Argento movies: http://metalonmetalblog.tumblr.com/post/95532821014/pulpflesh-malleus-the-argent o-posters-via |

I hate seeing my words as much as I do my reflection. I'm like a joy-eating sinkhole. |

Good god, I feel I was just reading about these "new" movies yesterday! And almost a decade has passed?!?... I saw none of them. I saw (mentioned in a blurb in the first one) PONTYPOOL - I think that's the film I'm thinking of. Contained zombie film, very very weird, doesn't quite work at all, left me feeling completely unsatisfied. The main actress (who was actually excellent in it!), I later learned, lives here in little ol' Simi Valley... in a very crappy corner house in a rundown part of Simi... or maybe she's moved on by now, dunno... no one cares either way... but centuries upon centuries from now, if some enterprising soul does the deep digging for it, here's a little factoid that can be added to the IMDB listing: Fun Facts! |
