There was a similar situation when Karin Slaughter killed off a central character in her Grant County novels. She received all kinds of threats and abuse. | ||

Scary for the authors concerned though. I mean, what if we all decided we didn't like the way Ramsey had ended a story and started sending him nasty messages about it? (I know we're not that daft, but it must be a nasty situation for an author) | ||

King's done rather well with that theme – in separate novels, he's shown an author persecuted by a fan and by a discontinued pseudonym. But has he, or anyone else, had a character punish an author for the ending of a story? | ||

Just read the news item. It seems that some people have a little difficulty distinguising between fantasy and reality. A bit like those long ago days when people would acutally apply for the screen jobs of some character, that left "Crossroads"! If instant communication, in the form of blogs, twitter, and the internet in general has revealed nothing else, it has shown us what strange, sad, disturbed lives some people live! Cheers Terry |
