Adam Nevill's forthcoming book, "The House of Small Shadows", formerly listed by Amazon as due on 10 October 2013 from Mcmillan Press, has recently disappeared from Amazon.com and Amazon.UK both. I confess to having been looking forward to that title with relish and impatience. I suppose publication to have been put off, I hope not too far in time. I can find no news about the mystery in the net. Maybe someone's luckier than I've been.

Sorry, what's ARC? Anticipatory Review Copies, I surmise, or something like that...Thank you, anyway. We've just to wait for the book to appear again!

Close - Advance Review Copy. Adam is on my friends list on facebook so I dropped him a message about this yesterday.

this was his reply

It was going to be a hardback, but is now straight to paperback, for a few reasons, mainly because there's only Waterstones left for hardbacks like this one from a writer like me, and they wouldn't have been able to take enough to justify a hardback print run. Happening a lot lately. Plus, I sell better in mass market paperback in all books. Problem, is if you get lots of press for a hardback or trade paperback at £14, it's wasted on a higher price point, so everything will go oin one edition.

so everything will go oin one edition from now on ... is what I meant to say. I'm very happy with the decision. The new edition should go up soon on Amazon, and thanks for letting me know

I prefer paperbacks anyway. Lighter to carry and easier to read in bed :-) This will definitely be a day one purchase for me.

Hardbacks are easier to read while eating. You can hold them open with one hand much easier without damaging the spine.

I must wolf my food down, it's never seemed worth my while getting stuck into a book while eating.

Do you never read a book on your lunch at work?

I'm not working at the moment, but usually I'd rather get out for a walk and escape the office for as long as possible.

House of Small Shadows announced as Kindle edition on Amazon, forthcoming October 23. Still hazy about paperback edition, formerly announced as coming October 10, now disappeared again from Amazon searching pages. Probably cresting anew in future days...I was waiting for this book, I'm nonplussed.

I just found a very good, in-depth interview with Adam Nevill about House of Small Shadows and writing in general: http://www.darrenjguest.com/2013/08/adam-nevill-interview.html?spref=fb
