My father-in-law spends his winters in the USA and summers in England. While in America, his favourite TV programmes are those on a Japanese channel shown at weekends in Florida. There is a crime series about an Italian detective based on a set of books written by an American author now living in Venice (where the stories are set). A German company has adapted the books into a TV series. The dialogue spoken by the Venetian characters is in German, shown in America with English sub-titles.
