I'm trying to find a piece of music to use as an intro for a number of short plays. It's a set of two hander plays called Mixed Doubles. They're by assorted authors including Pinter, Campton, Aykbourne and Weldon. The linking theme is marriage in it's various stages. Most of them are reasonably easy, I even found one for the Campton play which is set in a cemetary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBztEc2MmU4) which covers the themes discussed in the play. But I'm stuck on oe of them - The play's called Norma and it's about the break up of an aldulterous relationship where the woman is going back to her husband. Try as I might, I can't find a piece of music that covers this variation of the relationship break up. The play is basically the woman telling her lover that it was only fun and she can't keep going with it. help please. |

No, that's just about an adulterous relationship. I need a song about the woman leaving that to stay with the husband. There's one verse almost covers it... but no. It's not right. |

The Cure's 'Trust' covers that scenario from the viewpoint of an errant but repentant husband. It's on the album 'Wish' and is a personal favourite of mine. |

Likewise Leonard Cohen's 'Coming Back to You' from the album Various Positions. |

Both cracking songs but still not quite right. I'm looking for something either from the point of view of the woman ending the affair or from his pov. Lady Nina by Marillion is the closest i've found but that's a married man and his lover has an abusive husband. The cuckold in this play seems like a lovely chap even though we never meet him. |

Thought I'd throw in my two-pence worth, despite not posting here much these days, but I'd have said that Cat Power's song Good Woman would be exactly what you're looking for. From a male perspective I might suggest Careless Love by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. Give them a try. |
