So next year will be the 10th anniversary of me joining the RCMB. As it was, I get the opinion I joined after its heyday of activity had come and gone... and as well all know, it's basically gone into apocalyptic hibernation. Facebook was a major reason, I hear, for this forum losing its activity. I was a long long hold-out from Facebook - only this year, I reactivated my profile and started using it for like the first time ever - I'm many many years late to it, unlike the rest of the world. I do see its many benefits and uses, as well as its downsides. I noticed something about myself: I was joining groups and more energized about them - they were more dynamic - than individuals posting. A friend very active in FB echoed my sentiments, saying FB is becoming much more about groups, than anything else. From the utterly parochial to the absolutely ubiquitous, it's certainly the trend-line. And all of it's basically a re-invention of the old "bulletin boards" (like, the RCMB), in a newer age. Which is all a long way of saying.... Shouldn't we recreate the RCMB on FB, as a group? I searched for and joined a Ramsey Campbell fan group, but it seems kind of static to me; it's not like, say, the Lovecraft group I'm in, which is dynamic and fascinating. All the old members can come join - and pushing the reset button there, I'm sure, would be a fine thing; plus, new blood could pour in. Just a thought. Maybe we could make it, and make it better, better over there, rather than here.  | ||

I'm glad you're still here Proto! I kept meaning to come back and come back... and time, alas, slips away... but then the other day, I just vomited all over the damn place! I burst in like Margot Kidder strung out on drugs burst into that dinner party, many many years ago.... (Jesus, did that really happen?! Imagine having a nice dinner party, and a crazed-on-drugs Margot Kidder bursts through your patio doors! You'd think YOU were strung out on drugs! [Aside: Didn't this same scenario also play out long ago, but starring Anne Heche?...]) | ||
