Just one voice, singing. Like Barry Manilow.

All he asks is . . .

Oh go on, you know the rest.

I heard he was kinapped by a crazy scientist who gave him mechanical legs like a spider and he is now too ashamed to be amongst other people. He hangs out in the countryside at night, eating deer and crawling around on cliff sides, screaming.

Or was it the mechanical tail of a seal? Eating fish and slapping himself silly on green rocks that look like martian heads.

No, it was his head grafted onto a big tarantula's body, sort of pulling his head about, too heavy to lift, screaming and seeing web patterns in his mind.

Wow, so much oddness. I miss Albie's writing. His work here is the best horror novel of the last ten years.

I'm still in touch with Albie. I think he's become Merlin.
Griff was somebody else, Craig. So sad to think he just went and we never noticed.
Caroline - yes. :-)

Nick Royle wrote a brilliant story called UNFOLLOW. A twitter reference.

Indeed, Zed, it sounds pretty good....

Unfollow

Nicholas Royle provides the shortest piece in the anthology, six pages of sublimely sinister text in which the protagonist becomes enraptured with a lady taxidermist he meets via twitter and tries to ingratiate himself by providing her with raw material. There's a surreal feel to the story, with other people at the periphery of events and a play on twitter vocabulary in the story's title that gets expanded on in the text, all of which leads up to a beautifully understated ending, one that feels just right.

Rhys was posting on the BFS forum quite recently. I was glad to see him still around.
