Hello, all,

Just a reminder that tomorrow is May 1st, meaning that we can all start delving into "Cold Print."

You're up, Griff.

Best,
Richard

Since there's only a dozen or so applicants, I wouldn't mind doing a second story. Is that ok? I don't know which one it'll be, I'll let you know.

We could do with more people commenting, folks! It's less fun if only two or three people are involved each time.

Other stories I'd like to sink my teeth into:

"Reply Guaranteed"
"The Telephones"
"Litter"
"The Cellars"

Unless somebody else is willing to tackle them . . .

I'd happily try 'The Second Staircase' or 'Concussion' further down the line. But aren't we limited to stories in ALONE WITH THE HORRORS? I thought that was the original plan. Otherwise it could get tricky in terms of enough people having access to the stories.

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about that. Why "The Telephones" or "Reply Guaranteed" aren't included in ALONE is beyond me . . . But I could do "The Interloper" and "The Show Goes On" instead.

Sorry, folks - I'll certainly re-read the current story this week and comment. I keep forgetting about this. :-(

Well, that's really up to Huw. According to the schedule at the top of this thread, he's slated to host "The Companion" for July. However, I'm fine with discussing either this tale or "Again".

What say you, Huw? Once a decision has been made I will open the July Reading Group thread with the appropriate tale.

Best,
Richard

I'm off to the Roskilde festival today and will gladly start discussing Again after Tuesday when I'll be back if Huw would rather wait and do his entry later. Otherwise go ahead Huw and I'll look forward to discussing The Companion!

Hi, Karim,

We'll give Huw another couple of days. If no one else in the Reading Group minds, I'll hold off on opening the July thread until the weekend. Once a tale's been chosen, I'll open the thread and we can begin.

Enjoy Roskilde!

Best,
Richard

I thought I'd drop in and see what the reading group was about as I haven't been here yet. I'll take a story apart if you like? Does it have to be big press??

Hi, Coral,

Sorry about the delay in responding.

I set up this reading group last year to focus solely on Ramsey's work.

The genesis of the reading group was basically my asking which RCMB members would be interested in taking part. Once the interested members made themselves known, we each chose one of Ramsey's stories from Alone with the Horrors (which, if you don't already own it, is essential reading.) Then, each month one person would open a thread on their story selection and we would all chime in. Participation was not mandatory, and not every member had to comment on every story. It's very enjoyable, especially when you consider that the author himself will occasionally post as well.

We're on a bit of an extended hiatus at the moment, as many members are authors in their own right, with several projects cooking. I'm hoping to start the group back up in April. You are of course welcome to join in on any of the story discussions, past or future.

Whether the group will return to Alone with the Horrors or move on to one of Ramsey's novels will be worked out in due course.

Thanks for your interest.

Best,
Richard

Hi Richard,

I've just joined the RCMB and would happily take part in the planned reading group if you'll have me.

Absolutely, Sean. Welcome. I'm hoping to post something about the Reading Group in the next week or so. I'd like to get it up and running again.

I'm in a quandary here... I'd love to join the reading group but what if it clashes with my plan to read all Ramsey's novels in chrono order (a tad anal I know but what the heck)? Currently just about to start 'The Claw'.
