A quick update..... I may have been quiet here...But not idle... My new solo album will be called "A Parallellogram Of Suitcases" and will be released in September this year. Expect a dark chocolate selection rather than milk......perhaps a touch of Jazz...hmmm.. More soon. Unexpectedly.....I have joined a new group! - or rather, an established group in need of a bass player. I am now playing acoustic bass guitar for Folk Rock band Tallis. that's their gigs you see on my Myspace profile. www.myspace.com/garycolewilkin They (or rather 'we'...that is taking a bit of getting used to...) are a lovely group of people, we have Carole of guitar & vocals, Rob Duig (who played & sung on 'Monsters From The Id' )on guitar & vocals, & Sarah Jane on Violin & vocals. Oh, and me on bass! We played our debut gig as a four piece band last Sunday, it went well, and we have plenty more lined up. I think it's the breath of fresh air I needed...I am ENJOYING playing music again. Sometimes it is all too easy to forget music is supposed to be FUN! Plus. I get paid. Which is very nice. If all goes to plan...Tallis will be playing on a song earmarked for the new album called 'Full Moon'. Also, I am hoping that two very talented young ladies will be contributing to another song for the album too.... More soon, gcw | ||

Hi GCW. Acoustic bass is cool. Dave Pegg came from Acocks Green, the horrible district I now live a mile from and used to live in. Every pub in AG has security staff... and it's a suburb four miles from the city centre! The only people who drink there have been banned from pubs in the surrounding districts. No-one gets banned from AG pubs. What would be the point? Where was I? Sorry. Dave Pegg. Acoustic bass. Lovely. Do you play the double bass as well? There's an instrument than can upstage any musician with its sheer built-in attitude. | ||

I have played around with a double bass in ..er...Cash Convertors! The principle is the same..So yeah, I can play it. They are so big & unwieldy though, mind you I love Danny Thompson's playing on double bass. Gotta go - Battlestar Glactica Finale! gcw | ||
