I've just started this book by Eric Garcia (which is apparently soon to be a film starring Jude Law).

Eric Garcia is probably best known for Matchstick men (filmed with Nic cage) and the Rex series of books.

Although it's an amusing read, this book just seems too implausible. It's actually easier to suspend my disbelief and believe in a detective who's really a velociraptor dressed as a human (the Rex series) than it is to believe this one.

Strange.

I finished this yesterday and I have to say it improved massively. Strangely it was as he went further OTT that the suspension of disbelief happened. The concept of a new fake spleen which doubles as a speed radar trap detector (so your granny can avoid speeding fines after her spleen packs up) was too funny for me to hold a grudge against.
