Hi there! I know that's outside the main interests of the Forum but, out of curiosity, are there among you any players of strategy/tactics war-boargames such as, say, "Hannibal vs Rome" (my favourite"), "Ancient Battles", "Combat Commander" and so on, including fantasy games such as "Talisman", "Dungeoneer", "The Descent"? Veni, vidi, vici. Giancarlo |

I'm well into my RPGs, especially Call of Cthulhu. But have also really enjoyed Deadlands, In Nomine and Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy. Board games, I own only a few but especially recommend Zombies!!!, Pandemic, The Arkham Horror and anything by Cheap Ass Games, although they have now sadly gone out of business. Occasionally I'll also dabble in a bit of 3rd edition Dungeons & Dragons (4th ed is dreadful) but don't tell anyone. |

Yes, I have the Zombies!!! games. They are fun but I am mostly in favour of one-to-one battle games, maybe just because I can't muster more than one fellow player. I like customized card games too, whether battle of fantasy, provided they are not of the collectible variety: personalisation of decks forces the buying of booster packs so there is a card collection and no longer a game. I get more players only for Texas Hold'em poker games but I have to pose the condition of reasonable bet limits. That's a kind of RPG too, in its own way...or maybe not! |

The RPG Deadlands actually uses a version of poker for its combat and magic system. Very very cool, seeing as it's a fantasy Western game. My favourite non-playing card game at the moment is Munchkin. |
