I'm going to the States in a week to visit my parents. Which involves flying, obviously. (Why is there no emoticon for "panic attack"?) And then lots of personal questions I don't want to answer. But in between bouts of extreme angst, I will be out buying DVDs and such. So if anybody has any requests for things you can't easily get here or online, please feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do. To be honest, I could use the distraction! |

Good luck, Kate! Just bring yourself back or we'll have an irate Lord to overthrow. |

Bring back Texas, but without the rednecks. We need the land! And don't be afeard of flying. Think what a gift it is. In the whole of human history, so few have been gifted the chance to see what creatures of light and air dance on the other side of clouds. |

Kate - I'm flying for the first time at Xmas, so I know, or will know, how you feel. There isn't a sufficient enough emoticon for a panic attack when it involves flying. I always swore I would never set foot on a plane, but I've decided to try and conquer a fear/phobia which has haunted me since childhood. |

Oh, I agree the view is lovely. And I don't have a problem with flying per se - it's the lurching around in the air thousands of feet over the ocean (or the unforgiving ground) that makes me lose it. That and landings in violent winds where the wings are in danger of hitting the runway before the wheels do. And all those planes that have crashed recently. Or "landed" on the Hudson River. Or simply vanished over the ocean. .....deep breath, Xanax, deep breath, Xanax..... I'm not helping you at all, am I, Frank? |

As long as they don't have the first Final destination as the in-flight movie - Or Alive, or the Airport series on a continuous loop... |

To be honest, I'd probably feel calmer watching Final Destination on a plane where I'm already scared. At least then my paranoia would be validated! |

You not hear of them that dance on clouds, Zed? Elves run up rainbow bridges and pilot clouds. As for all the lurching and stuff, oh it's all part of the entertainment. If you're gonna crash there's nothing you can do about it by then, so enjoy the view. I mean, it could be worse. There could be a baseball movie on... |

(Maybe I'm a bit giddy, though, matey. I finished the second draft of my fantasy novel first thing this morning. Feeling somewhat lightheaded. It's down to 179,000 words or so now. Third draft soon...) |

Take a good book to read on the plane, Kate, or else one of mine. If you could find a large spider framed under glass, I'd welcome it with open arms... |

Ramsey, I have a Brachypelma Albopilosum. Unfortunately, it's still alive, so it does not permit itself to be put into a display case willingly. It would probably survive the relatively short trip to Wallasey in a carboard box, however. Shall I forward it to you? |

Whoops. I forgot something. Warning, I've just posted a picture of a big spider. ***weber grins evilly as he thinks of the arachnaphobes out there*** |

I think he's lovely, Weber. Though I don't think they'd let me take him on the plane. Or were you asking me to bring him back an American girlfriend? |

Just don't put any pictures of snakes on here, please! Now that would be one film I definitely wouldn't want to watch on a plane - "Snakes on a Plane".

Thanks, Hubert! But I'd like something to go on the wall and stay there. |

Swine! I was expecting someone to do that as I'd mentioned it, but even pictures of snakes never fail to give me that horrible jumping sensation in my stomach, no matter how much I prepare myself for it. Eels have the same effect. The last time I was at an aquarium and one popped out to have a look at me (behind glass, of course), I screamed and flew out of the place - much to hubby's amusement! I'm a bit funny about worms too, though I can cope with them a lot better. Basically, it's anything without legs with gives me the screaming ab-dabs. |

Sorry, that "swine" label was aimed at Weber, not Stephen or Ramsey - we were obviously posting at the same time. |

"But I'd like something to go on the wall and stay there" There's a huge spider in my bath that,no matter how many times I throw it out of the window, comes right back every time. If I post it down to you and it likes your wall I'm sure it would be a permanent fixture... |
