"I've got the address of the asda person to approach about a yearly Halloween book, maybe two (one adult, one kid friendly). Anyone think of tales that might fit in them?" Are we thinking reprints here? |

Hi Ramsey - you know what, anything goes, new or old. I read an August Derleth to my kids the other week and it really grabbed them. It pained me to see all the Halloween claptrap in the store but no books other than the 'vampire love' ones. I seriously think that reading to kids is invaluable, for parent and child. I haven't edited a jot in my life btw and haven't a clue how to begin this, but I'd like to take a first step and see how it goes. Any advice would be more than welcome. Thank you, Ramsey, for spotting this. |

Tony, I'm sure there are plenty folk on here who would gladly submit material for an annual Halloween collection, probably both old and new depending on your specification. |

It depends on asda, whether they fund such things. My mission? Stories of about 6 - 10 pages or so, not too strong, for kids. Hopefully with either fun (and by that I mean exciting/scary) and/or integrity, nothing 'false'. |

Oh, and thanks, Ramsey. I guess people can understand why I'm targeting asda... |

Really, what? Yeah, of course I'd be interested to see if this goes anywhere. Always on the look out for a new opportunity to get the work out there. |

If you're interested in having some Canadian content in there as well, Tony, I'd be happy to submit something. I'm a thirty-five-year-old kid when it comes to Halloween. Richard |

Tony - I don't know if you'd be intending to approach writers not on this board directly, but the first person who sprang to my mind was Mark Morris, who did a fantastic Doctor Who Haloweeen novel last year (or was it the year before?). He's very much into the "young adult" market now, I think. Might be worth an approach? |

Hi Tony, I do a lot of writing for children. I'm a writer on Gigglebiz (ask your nearest CBeebies viewer), and have written half-hours for CBBC, as well as working on Dick & Dom; Smile; and XChange. Although I haven't had any prose fiction published, I did at one point adapt a number of Greek myths for a project to turn them into stories that could be read aloud at bedtimes, and my first horror story effort is being included in the Black Static Advent Calendar on the 21st. What I'm saying is, I'd love to be involved, if that's a possibility. Anyway, best of luck with it whatever. N |

Everyone - this is a bit scary! Do it without me!! Kidding; I'll write to asda, and if they don't fund it I'll take the idea elsewhere. Anything legalese I should know before I do anything? |

I wouldn't mind having a crack at doing a story if you want one. |

Thanks, Mark. No matter what else I do, it's Gigglebiz that people love. As I was trudging home laden with last-minute Christmas shopping today, taking minuscule steps to avoid falling on my arse, I looked through a warm-looking window. Two boys were watching one of my Berito Brothers sketches and laughing. After that, it didn't seem like trudging any more... |

Natt, that's excellent. I'm not sure who writes what, but Matthew likes the explorer who's after Panda's and the strongmen/circus people. I've only watched a couple of episodes, I have to confess. |

We all wrote for various characters, and we're all credited once a week rather than on the episodes we actually wrote for, so it's difficult to work out who wrote what even if you worked on the programme. (Although I did write for the circus strongmen, the Berito Brothers, so your son must have excellent taste...) |

Ah, then I've seen a Berito Brothers sketch - where they're trying to fire each other out of the cannon. |

That's one of mine! Other characters I wrote for were Lost Pirate, Nana Knickerbocker (pantomime dame), Professor Muddles, King Flannel, DIY Dan & Gail Force. (I seem to have dragged this thread wildly off-topic...) |
