The protagonist of my new novel Ghosts Know is a radio presenter. His show is based to some extent on the one Roger Phillips hosts on Radio Merseyside. Roger's an equable chap, but occasionally a caller gets to him on a gut level. No wonder in the case of Eileen from Norris Green. I wish I could have included her in the novel (some of his regulars have cameos in it). Here she is, starting at about 1.30.30 into the broadcast:

"No, no, no, it's not far down the road!" Thought I was listening to a Monty Python sketch. Love her accent

Damn. Is there such a thing as late-onset dyslexia?

Ramsey - ah, the sound of home. Roger Phillips. A gent. My mum is over visiting, and she said it was the first time in all the years she's been listening to him that she ever heard him lose his rag with somebody. Mind you, he lost his rag in a way that shames those of who really go off the deep end at 'these people.' (: These people = Alan Partridge.
