I just got Hubert Selby Jr's Waiting Period from the library as a Penuin Classic and that was first published in 2003.

The one nick hornby book i've read wasn't very good. The fact that he's such a bland nothing of a writer (going by the one i've read) concerns me more than the age of the book.
