She passed away today; co-starring in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), she also supported Lady in the Lake, High Wall, and The Unsuspected, all 1947—her year, I suppose. She did other films, and went on to do TV as well; but I read somewhere that after "noir" tapered (i.e., 1950 onward), she was never quite so much in demand. No, she was no Crawford, or Stanwyck; but she was, to me, the very embodiment of the noir femme, fatale or otherwise. I will fess to always being extremely... admiring of her. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Goodnight, sweet Audrey!
