Sorry if this subject is old hat from some long ago thread but I've just watched "The Wave" on iPlayer and it has blown me away. There was a simialr experiment in the early 70s in a US school and that went horribly wrong - we were shown some footage at a recent teaching training day.

This was genuinely the most disturbing horror film I have seen for a long time. Okay, it was obvious and not that subtle but it had a truth at its heart that was truly chilling.

Cheers
Terry

I have this recorded, Terry - looked most intriguing and now I'm looking forward to watching it even more.

Yes, I've seen The Wave. Like Terry says, it's not a subtle film (and probably drives its message home a bit too melodramatically in the final scenes), but it does depict quite convincingly how easy a slide into facism can come about.

Worth watching on a double bill with the recent Baader Meinhof Complex film to see how modern German film-makers are dealing with their country's past.

Of course, these days in Germany, 'Mein Hof' is more likely to refer to the star of Baywatch and Knight Rider...

I thought The Baader Meinhof Complex was excellent.
