I didn't want to think that my own father was stealing from his job as a lollipop man. But when I got home, well, all the signs were there... |

I saw a lollipop lady today hooted by a car as she tried to cross the road on the way to her job, the sign across her shoulder. |

I think a "lollipop man/lady" is a street-sign-setting-up person. |

Rather than what we colonials would think of: a man/lady who gives candy to children. |

Do you guys not have school patrol officers (to give them what I think is the correct designation nowadays) helping children cross the roads to and from their schools? Weber - that IS an awful joke (and awfully OLD too) Des - that's just awful. Drivers have no concern/respect for anyone nowadays. |

Sorry, that should be "school crossing patrol officers" - school patrol officers would be something completely different. |

In my little place in NZ the older kids do it. We've had everything from chucking a cone into the road to a barrier and a big stick. They learn to do stuff early down here and of course not as much traffic.:>). |
