If one were to sell a rare item, what would be the best approach? |

Personally, I've always gone via a dealer, mostly Andy Richards:- www.coldtonnage.com If you sell via a dealer, he'll basically give you about 50% of what he can sell it for. If you sell via Andy on consignment, he'll not pay you until he's sold it himself, but he'll then give you a much higher percentage of the selling price (or at least that's the case with a lot of books; whether he'll do that with a single item I don't know for sure). Anyway he's a very trustworthy chap. And I know where he lives... Otherwise there's eBay, but that is a bit scarifying with something like a rare book. |

PS Andy lives close to where I work in Berkshire, and several times I've dropped off loads of books with him personally; he's a very nice chap.* *Other dealers are available... |

Andy Richards is the man. You'll get a good deal with him. |
