Right - all the children who came trick or treating last night were 'treated' to my rendition of the theme from Hammer House of Horror on the piano. I've been playing it ever since a friend of mine gave me the 7" single as a birthday present last week. If they knew what it was they were allowed to go through 'Door A' to a wonderful world of confectionary and video games.

Those who didn't know had to go through 'Door B' and descend the shadowy steps to the cellar where my lecture on horror film music is on a continuous loop. All 27 of them are still there but to be honest what they were doing out here in the middle of nowhere anyway is anyone's guess.

I had an absolutely splendid (and deliciously memorable) birthday by the way (24th Oct) in case any of you were wondering. And my apologies for having been away from the board but I've been a bit busy with one of my private patients and she's needed quite a lot of intensive treatment.

Yours still not having written the sodding after dinner speech he has to give at a country manor this Thursday and using this message board as an excuse

Lord P

John, sometimes I think we all invented you to bring a little colour to this predominantly black and white board. But then I realise that none of us could ever make you up.

Happy Birthday John - good luck with the speech, not that you'll need it, of course.

Bloody bloody lovely. Thank you so much my dear chap. And yes - I can assure you that all I write about is true, but of course I leave out the best bits.

Mick - speech subjects will include:

My Monday morning clinic IS Little Britain

How to avoid court when you're found in London clutching a young lady's nightdress in one hand and a pot of mayonnaise in the other

How to have some real fun at the Bristol Balloon festival

Why Santa Claus hasn't opened a Pole Dancing Club

My Monday morning clinic IS Little Britain

I saw a little of that John Prescott programme about class in the UK when they took the mickey out of it on HIGNFY t'other night, with that girl speaking Estuary English saying "I reckon I'm middle class; I ain't got loads of money but I'm not poor". Prescott said "in fairness, you're the first person I've met who I'd say is working class".
"But I don't work", she replied...
