I just saw this film and thought it was brilliant. Variety called it "an homage to Roman Polanski with nods to David Lynch", which is a pretty accurate description. It's just the kind of claustrophobic nightmare I love. Disturbing mind games, dark atmosphere and none of the terminal hipness that puts me off so many "Hollywood" films of this type.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's a description from the Philly Fest Review:

"John has been left for another man and is slowly retreating into a state of isolation and obsession when he is approached by Anne, his strikingly attractive neighbour who asks for his help moving a heavy object in her apartment. The object to be moved is a heavy cabinet that Anne wishes to use as a barricade across her front door and John is quickly drawn into a dark, labyrinthine, physics defying world where all is obviously not what it seems by Anne and her powerfully seductive 'sister' Kim. To know any more than that would take away from the experience of the film itself."

The ending isn't really a surprise, but I didn't find it any less effective for that. Reviewers have criticised the pace, but I personally like movies that take their time. It's one of the things that makes "Hour of the Wolf" so unbearably intense.

What did you guys think of it? And are there any similar ones you'd recommend?

Incidentally, sorry I haven't been around much but I've been seeing my personal surgeon and the treatment has been quite intense.

Love,
Niki

Caught the last half of this on TV about six months ago. Wouldn't usually continue watching something that I'd missed the start of, but I was mesmerised. Very 'Lynch'. Very disturbing.
Tried for a couple of weeks to find it on DVD, but no luck.

This sounds really intriguing. Have to see if it surfaces in the UK or not.

Just watched this - very nice little film indeed, and all in a mere 75 minutes. Thanks for the recommendation, Nikki - I'd never have got to see it otherwise.
For anyone else considering it, it's available for £6.99 in the UK, so worth a try.

...plus it has a great score, with a definite touch of Bernard Herrmann.

Looks like I'll be adding it to my Zip list. Which means I may get to it by the turn of the century. :/
