Hello everybody! I am Giancarlo from Rome, Italy. I've been following this Forum for years and now here I am to partake of the feast! Please, forgive my sometimes stammering English. Yes, I am a Roman but not wearing any of those movie robes and sandals, alas, but I'd be in favour of reviving gladiatorial combat in the Arena as in the good old days, maybe pitching rivalling fans of horror to slash at each other by word or sword. Well, I am happy to be here among all of you. Thank you all for your hospitality. Yours, Giancarlo |

I've never been to Rome, but I spent a couple of weeks in the north of Italy (we drove through the Dolomites and camped there before moving on to Venice) in my teens, and will never forget it. I'd love to go back some day, and explore more of the country. |

Hiya, Giancarlo. And very best of luck to you, now you've finally joined the circus of madness! I've been trying to figure out what any of us have in common save for enjoying Ramsey's fiction, and the best I've come up with so far is that we've nearly all at one time or another been under the care of the mental health profession . . . The couch is this way, over on the left. |

Hi everybody! Thank you for your welcome! As a reply to Mark, I'd have to confess I am a certified jungian analyst, the craziest sort then, and with a dark streak making to see my patients' suicide as the best outcome of treatment. What's the reason for crawling on the Earth, after all, if not realizing that nothing matters...suicide would not either, I'd have to admit, so reading Horror, and Ramsey in particular, is the only motive behind having to withstand the "gift" of life. Am I joking? Who knows, that's the way my Mind usually works! Hello again! |

Everybody, have a good day! Yes Mark, all analysts, Jungian or else, should be certified, but many of them prefer working out of the clan since being certified would mean being subject to control by tax authorities...as a consequence, anyone could declare himself/herself an analyst. Jung, as an eccentric scholar, was not entirely against the "declare-yourself" practice. Even Lacan, as far as I know, attested to self-permission, but those were kind of koans, I surmise, to cudgel one's brains upon. Truth to tell, I feel often ashamed of authority's confirmation: who can say what an analyst really is? There were "analysts" in Greece, and in Rome too, but they were under many gods and inspired by philosophical schools which didn't care about final papers. As Groucho Marx says, I wouldn't like belonging to a club having such one as me among its members. Ciao! |
