I've always had a thing for Robert Downey Jnr. Are you excited?

It does. And while I am looking forward to the Hulk film I don't like the look of the Hulk himself; he looks like he might be some band member, a bit too cool. The first had an innocent look that I felt appropriate.

I too admire Robert Downey Jnr, Ally.

Anyone brave enough to undergo all that plastic surgery deserves some degree of recognition.

This looks like it could be fun.

I wonder if Iron Man will turn into an alcoholic like he did in the comics. They'll probably save it for the sequel.

I never dug IRON MAN that much. He seemed to have a heart attack every other issue of the comic run.

Yeah, just like every issue Spiderman would think he had something caught in his throat.

"It's an EGG! I've got an egg in my throat!"

Stan Lee insisted on it though.

Actually, Spider-Man seemed to lose his powers every other issue.

Did anyone else think that spidey 2 the film was too close to the plot od the Chris Reeves Superman 2? Switch the villain(s) of the piece and the storyline is almost identical.

I want to see the mutation increase in number 4 and he starts turning into a giant spider... I know they've done it in the comics at least once. it'd be fun to see it on the big screen

The lack of mention of the egg in part 2 did seem odd. But you are right, it was Superman 2. I think Raimi admitted it, just after he cut the egg in throat sequence.

I went to see Iron Man today and thought it was pretty good (at least as good as Spidey). Robert Downey Jr. is very good in the lead role, and a very bald, weird-looking Jeff Bridges is fun too.

Spoilerish bits;
Fave bits were at the beginning, though, with the guy helping him in the tunnel. It was quite moving, that stuff, and more intense than what came later. I also loved the bit where he flew over to Afghanistan and started fighting a real enemy instead of a superbaddy.

Tony, did the film-makers make the same mistake WHO only recently seems to have rectified and have the opposite sides of the world in daylight at the same time?

Liked it. Actually I was quite horrifed by the attack on the cars at the beginning and was drawn in quite quickly.

However - it was in the 'special studio' Vue, with beanbag chairs, harder couches and backrow comfy seats. Before I could protest my hubs had bought 2 adults and 1 child tickets for £19.50 with seat allocation on the back row. To add to the injury the seats were behind loads of kids in an empty cinema. Thought about it for a second and moved my daughter and myself to the harder couches away from the riff raff. Stubborn hubs refused to move.

Usual cost £6.15 but back seats over £7. Someone is taking the whatsit.

Next time it will be my lovely Penistone Paramount at £4.50 :>)

I've been in those seats in Gateshead. They have this 'sit where you're put' system which I also hate, and I always move somewhere else once the film starts. To my mind, if you are in the queue first you can sit where you want!

It's cos they have this idea the place will fill up, and they want everyone to move along and use every seat. As if that will ever happen.

Ally :'Liked it. Actually I was quite horrifed by the attack on the cars at the beginning and was drawn in quite quickly.'

Thats what I thought. That scene was terrifying. I also liked this film alot- more entertaining than previous blockbusters this season- certainly much better than the whole Transformers thing. Those opening scenes made me wonder if this picture was a little too much for a younger audience. I kept thinking Macgyver when I watched this film- the cave scenes- lets build a tank with a piece of string and a blowtorch...

My only quibble was that the big character arc happened to early. After he got out of the cave it sort of felt like a post-script. But I did like it.

I enjoyed IRON MAN. I seem to like/prefer the first episodes of super hero stories because I really enjoy the origin tales. Once they get going, they always seem to forget about story and just focus on action, which frankly bores me.

I may be in the minority, but I loved Spidy 1 and really disliked Spidy 2. Had zero desire to see 3.

Just kidding Tony: Stone is making a biopic about George W Bush.

You know Watchmen which just finished shooting sort of has the theme you mention above as part of its narrative.
