Last night on TV (Rupert Everett as SH) - I found this particularly well done and horrifically haunting.

Parts of it were good (from what I recall; it's been three years since I watched it), and I liked Ian Hart's Watson, but wasn't sure about Rupert Everett's Holmes. And the whole thing was a bit too CSI: Victorian London for me. I'm by no means a screen Holmes purist, insisting on complete canonical fidelity, but I think a Holmes movie should stay within shouting distance of Conan Doyle's originals; this production was in a different time zone.

Yes, I liked the Dr Watson rendition.
I think I see what you mean, Barbara, but I've never seen CSI.
