First the poot went into the menders, then when it came back I went into eating myself from the inside out mode again. Now I'm better, and so is the poot, only to find I've missed all the interesting festivities. So, I hope you all had super xmas's, and I wish you health, wealth and happiess for the coming year. I've learned to use a desk top publisher, and I've read The Devil And All His Works, and I've built a pinata garden on my Nintendo. Has anyone done the 2008 reprisal, new year resolutions thing yet? If not, who's going first??? |

Nice to have you back, Coral. I don't do resolutions, but, as always, I have a few achievable goals for 2009 - most of them writing related. |

Happy New Year, Coral! I hope it's a much better year for you. My New Year resolutions are mostly private, but include the resolutions to read more non-fiction and news coverage, and to spend less time online. |

Hi Coral. Glad you're OK. New Year's resolutions are: 1) Losing about 3 stone in weight. (I currently resemble a beached walrus) 2) Getting a promotion at work. (Or failing that, remaining employed in 2009 will be very acceptable!) 3) Persuading someone to publish my second novel! (Preferably through sheer talent, although incriminating photos will be considered) Who's next? |

I don't do New Year's Resolutions as a rule. In fact the only one I ever took seriously was to stop smoking. In 1999. So it's ten years, which means my risk factors are all pretty much back down to as if I'd never smoked and I feel very pleased with myself. I still have the gold-plated cigarette case which I now keep other things in. And thank God I stopped before the idea of a cigarette holder entered my head. Of course I have had to take up some terrible, terrible vices to replace it but at least now my actions are unhealthier for others rather than myself |

Happy New Year, Coral. (What's a "poot"?) As seems to be a trend for me now for a few years, to tackle some monstrosity of world literature I've been meaning to read, or read completely. I want to go for the most daunting, so I'm mulling between... WAR AND PEACE by Tolstoy; THE FAERIE QUEEN by Spencer; the complete IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME by Proust; the unabridged LIFE OF JOHNSON by Boswell; the King James Bible by God... something grand and thick and overwhelming and exhausting and demoralizing and vexing and terrible.... Barring that, to sprout pecs like our new President. |

Errrrrrm.... To cut down on my drinking a bit...I quit smoking a couple of months ago when I got a bad chest infection, (one good thing to come out of it). To cheer up a bit.. (this bloody gloom...!) to do a bit more exercise... To sort out my continuous fucking pain from my dodgy neck (it can be done but needs sorting properly). To get on better with the missus. To get my new album finished at some point during the year. To enjoy life a bit more...I hope. gcw |

All these great minds thinking alike... My resolution is to try to do something about my spine/chronic pain problems so that I can get back to having a normal life (probably means having major surgery again, which I am dreading). Gcw, I know how you feel - hang in there, fella. Coral, good to see you again. |
