Thanks boys. You're both lovely.

Simon, I read THEY WAIT a year or so ago - good stuff, like an espresso for the conscience.

Hee hee. I see you've gone from "Worried child will be monster in the womb" through "worried child is a monster out of the womb" to "worried father won't be there to protect child from the monsters" . . . .

You know, you do have a remarkable ability to produce beilevabilty and commitment in such pieces, Zed. It's quite a talent. Sometimes I don't appreciate it probably as much as I should, probably cos I've read so much from you. A place for everything and everything in its place. Keep at it, keep stretching yourself a bit too.

Very effective, Gary. The ending reminded me of the bleakness of The Pied Piper.

You definitely visit places many writers would not dare to venture.

Nice work, mate.

Shh. He's said he doesn't want to talk about that incident any longer. The rabbits still have sore bums and are very touchy about it all still.

A good and unsettling story there. Especially sad with so many children in harms way these weeks.

Karim - the story was inspired by a real case when a man went crazy and attacked a nursery armed with a machete. The nursery staff suffered awful injuries protecting the kids in their care.

Now that you mention it Zed I remember that story in the news- it was a couple of years back? There was also that incident in the US in an Amish community where a man went into the village's classroom- it was a tiny two room building- and he started executing the kids.

I think the UK incident involved the school teacher getting some kind of commendation for bravery. She was injured quite badly herself, but she tried to defend the kids.

What a horrific story (the real life one, as well as Gary's).
