Zed, i've really enjoyed DAb for the last few years. It's been an indulgence for me. While there's still some great stations on there, you should be advised that not one -- repeat, not one -- of the digital only stations makes a profit and they're going down like cows in a foot-n-mouth outbreak. The jazz and pure rock stations have closed down at the end of last month; Oneword, devoted to books, collapsed when Channel 4, the owner, pulled the plug suddenyl at the end of last year. Many blame the DAB platform, citing it as the beta max of digital broadcasting. But the quality's brilliant, and you can still get BBC 7, so that's still worth a punt. | ||

Oh, and they're much more power hungry than standard FM radios, so bear that in mind if you're taking it out and about on batteries. | ||

Tonight on digi was a very nice adaptation of The Owl Service. Very atmospheric. I just wish it were possible to record such things. |
