Most of us here are movie buffs, so without further ado:

I must say... while Brad Pitt is amazing in the trailer, it didn't exactly convince me.

Bit of a "hmmm" moment for me, but trailers are often wide of the mark so I guess we'll have to wait 'til August. Cheers for the link Tom; I'd not seen a frame of this film until now, although I'd read a bit about it.

Well I'm sold. It looks bloody great - but I'm immune to the current Tarantino backlash.

So am I. I even liked Deathproof.

Never thought Brad Pitt would do a Tarantino film though.

Is there a Tarantino backlash then? I wanted to like DEATHPROOF; the best part of it for me was the soundtrack I thought, but I felt you could see the film working for too much of its time. I liked a fair bit of it, but not as a whole really.

I enjoyed DeathProof. It seemed to fit the Tarantino template rather obviously, but it was fun and gruesome. It reminded me of what someone once said about one of de Maupassant's revenge stories - you know what's going to happen, but you have to see it.

Looks like a remake of The Dirty Dozen. But then I ain't no Tarantino fan . . . Still, I haven't even seen Death Proof, so who knows?

It's a remake of Inglorious Bastards.

I loved deathproof. I honestly don't think QT has made a bad film yet.

I'm very fond of Pulp Fiction. But that's retro heaven on every level: script, music, performances and visual style. Pastiche of the good stuff rather than pastiche of shite.

And I want the words 'If I'm curt with you, it's because time is a factor' engraved on my tombstone.

I agree, mate. Furthermore, I don't think he's made even an average one: I've loved them all for different reasons.

Deathproof is a remake of a film that was never actually made in the first place. It's terrific.

I forgot Jackie Brown. This one's almost too good to be a Tarantino film.

We really do need an edit post button for after something's posted.

Nothing is too good to be a Tarantino film.

Or to make that a less ambiguous statement

There is no such thing as too good to be a Tarantino film.

I suppose you think Kill Bill 2 is a grand art statement? I think it sucks something awful. Oh, and I did enjoy the first twenty minutes (or so) of From Dusk till Dawn.

Kill Bill is great - pure violent entertainment (it seems so wrong to write that; how can violence be entertaining?).

Tarantino is never going to make a grand art statement, but he's always going to create something fascinating. IMHO, of course.

I love both Kill Bills. One man's meat etc. You're entitled to your opinion however depraved and wrong it may be.

Weber, isn't that "NOW!!!" a tad redundant? :-)

It definitely needs a post-modernistic explanation.

It's for the sake of emphasis therefore allowable in this circumstance.

I might just be talking crap though...

Oh I don't know about this. 'My name is Aldo Ray' prickled my 'needless in-joke' detector as soon as the trailer started so we'll have to see. I do think Tarentino can be highly derivative and not do anywhere near as good as job as his source material. One to watch if I'm bored, I suspect.

John, all movie in-jokes are needless. That's why they're so much fun. The Aldo Ray thing thickled me.

For me the trailer desperately tries to be cool, but it seems to be addressed more at beavis & butthead.

Taratino is a great director. As Zed says, all his movies are fantastic. The man himself summed up his work when he said, Oliver Stone makes films, I make movies. With Taratino you can see his heart and soul have been pumped into every movie he's made. He has no pretensions, only the will to make the best movies he can. Unfortunately, Pulp Fiction spawned a thousand awful imitators.

Loved watching Kill Bill 1 and 2 but hey - I liked Geena Davis In The Long Kiss Goodnight. Good strong female characters...

Ally - LKG is a good movie. The rapport between Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson is fantastic stuff.

Yes, it's a truly charming action movie. Remarkably, in this movie the good looking guys are the bad ones. I thought that action was also very well filmed. I should play the dvd again one of these days now that I have my big flatscreen tv!
