Just finished reading this and must say that I thought it was one of the best horror novels of the past few years. Joe Hill is a fantastic writer. The plot was gripping, the characterisation spot on and there was a certain lyrical darkness to the book that I found strangely seductive. Anyone else read it? |

Yup. Wasn't as convinced by the time it turned into your standard chase novel as i was by the start, and the rules of the "haunting" seemed to change according to the plot's needs (how effable the spook was), but I did finish it. Hate ot make the comparison, but it felt a lot like Ruichard Bachman. |

Yeah, I very much enjoyed it at the time but don't rate it as highly as some. It's a good, fast-moving horror novel. No more, no less. So far, I prefer Hill's short fiction to his longer work. I am looking forward to whatever his next novel will be, though. |

I loved it myself. Thought it was almost the literary equivalent of superglue on the cover (ie I couldn't put it down). |
