I was reading Poe's A Descent into the Maelstrom the other day and was trying to remember who put me on to Jonas Lie. Who was it? I adore sea tales and was quite thankful to get through a storm in the Bay of Biscay a few years ago where the sea, after the storm, settled into hundreds of whirlpools. Anyone else seen that at sea? It was quite one of the most remarkable sights I have ever come across. |

Might have been me, Ally. I remember mentioning him, a while back. ;-) I've never had the fortune to see the sight you describe, but it sounds wonderful. Did you get Lie's collection, by the way? |

Glad to be able to help! Have you read Jean Ray's story 'The Mainz Psalter'? It's one of my favourite sea stories ever (and quite Lovecraftian in places). |

No - but you can bet I'll get on to it! Now - where have I seen that lately - perhaps here. |
