Some of you will probably be familiar with the antics of this hosiery-themed tomfoolery from youtube, where the two sock puppets of the aforementioned theatre spoof various TV shows. Recreations of Life On Mars, Demons and Torchwood have raised many a chuckle at Probert Towers, and I got to see the live show in Bath on Friday night. And what can I say? A bit like having a mate of yours perform daft sketches while hiding behind the sofa this was just over an hour of top quality silliness. Sock puppet versions of Halloween and Bram Stoker's Dracula were only outdone by an inspired rendition of Romeo & Juliet in Five Minutes (My name is Juliet & I am Catapult. I think.) Only worth watching if you like crap glove puppets playing tiny little guitars, making fun of each other for dressing up in women's clothing and speaking in very high silly voices. As someone who once wrote and performed 'Wes Craven's Wind in the Willows' in a very similar way I thought this was great. |

I'm totally jealous! And I'd give anything to have seen your version of "Wind in the Willows!" My brother and I used to enact the last half hour of The Shining with a big skunk hand puppet as Jack using a cardboard ax to hack through a Kleenex door to get at a flimsy handmade Shelley Duvall puppet. My parents thought it was brilliant. Probably explains a lot actually. |

Be careful what you say, Miss Flynn. I have recently been given to understand that a DVD of said infamous 'Willows' footage has surfaced in Australia, complete with the Ratty Claw hammer murder thought lost. For the record, both mole and ratty were socks, toad was made from surgical scrubs with ping pong ball eyes, and badger was a sheep glove puppet turned inside out from our 'Larry the Lamb Should Never have Gone Out on The Town' song. |

Ratty Redux! Perhaps a viewing at Fantasycon is in order. Along with an exhibition of my camera phone photos showing various severed heads and pub dinosaurs. Here is "Mr Toad's Bad Trip", which graces the walls of a very quirky castle:

Perhaps a FantasyCon performance might be in order indeed, although my original con-conspirator is now too busy being something very important in Transplants at the Hammersmith. Of course I would need someone with glove puppet experience.... Hang on: My brother and I used to enact the last half hour of The Shining with a big skunk hand puppet as Jack using a cardboard ax to hack through a Kleenex door to get at a flimsy handmade Shelley Duvall puppet. My parents thought it was brilliant. Probably explains a lot actually Fancy having some blood pumps connected to your wrists Miss Flynn? |

Fancy having some blood pumps connected to your wrists Miss Flynn? I dream of such opportunities, Lord P! Better choose a restaurant we never want to go back to, as we're likely to be thrown out. Oh, you mean in the performance! |

And for all one of you who seems to have been waiting for this I now have the JLP Sock Puppet version of Wes Craven's Wind in the Willows on DVD! Do you think Martin Roberts will let me put it in the FantasyCon short film festival? |
