While I don't actually recommend food poisoning as a dietary aid, I can't argue with its effectiveness. I lost 2 kilos in five days! Not only that, but fever dreams are spectacularly weird and disturbing and I woke up plenty of times to scribble down what I'd seen, often uncertain whether it had really been just a dream. It was like falling into a David Lynch film, only to wake up and find myself in another David Lynch film, only to wake up and wonder if I'd find my dead Doppelgänger lying in bed next to me. At one point I swear I heard the pathologist dispassionately recording the details of my mutilated corpse and weighing my organs.

Eek. Yeah, I've had similar experiences as the result of something I ate. Which can be interesting. The sad part is I usually forget most of the imaginative material generated. I remember one occasion where all I could remember was that there'd been some fairly epic narrative unfolding in my head involving Russia being invaded. I wasn't in much of a state to write it down at the time, though, so sadly this potential meisterwerk is lost forever... On a more serious note, Niki, hope you're OK now. |

Indeed. I once lost a stone in a week after eating some dodgy pork. I was passing blood for half of it. Didn't stop me drinking, tho. Oh, the stupidity of a 25 year-old . . . |

Thanks, yes, I'm vastly improved! And I'm sorry to hear that so many of you have been there too. It's proper hell, to be sure. The weird thing is, I got food poisoning back in March as well, but that was from what was probably the most expensive and poshest meal I've ever been treated to! Everyone at the table had the exact same thing, but I was the only one with her head in the toilet the next day. Thank God I had my mobile with me - and friends to keep me company via text! |

I've had food poisoning in India, Guyana, Brazil, Thailand, Turkey, Italy and most recently Mongolia. In fact I don't feel I've had a proper holiday if I don't come back at least half a stone lighter. It's never made me delusional, though. Maybe I need to try some other form of poison. |

What was it that caused it, Niki? |

Chicken's my guess, Hubert. This time anyway. The time at the posh dinner - not the faintest clue. And Lord P - If you'd like to try some other form of poison I could cook for you sometime. |

That's very nice of you Miss Flynn. Might I reciprocate such a kind offer by saying that if you should ever need an actual post mortem.... |
