As one of the subjects, not one of the contestants. This Friday on BBC2. |

What date's that on? I listened to 'A Warning to the Furious' on Radio 4 today. Had the usual wasn't MR James gay stuff in it, but was otherwise a fair stab at a ghostly piece. The usual Radio 4 class casting, actors sounding like Penelope Keith for the nice folk, and a scattering of working class types called 'Bob' etc. Seemed on at the wrong time of year, though today did feel sort of autumnal. Half worth listening online if you fancy a 45 minute ghost play. |

I just listened to an audio reading of an M.R. James story today while reading meters at work. It was Number 13. I've read it before but its been awhile. I love his stories! He was a true master at crafting the malicious ghost story! |

Hello! I've just been interviewed live-to-air by BBC local radio in Scotland as a tie-in with tonight's Mastermind - talking about MRJ, who he was, why his stories are so good, etc. To give you an idea of the show, the previous item was a lively discussion of imaginary animal sports including beaver-tossing and chipmunk-chucking. The Today programme it wasn't. |

Man I wish we got that here in the U.S.! James is one of my absolute favorite writers and I'd love to see a special on him. |

My favourite M R James tale is one I'm still reading after all these years: Count Magnuson. I intend to get to the end. In fact I've started so I'll finish. |
