My car's MOT expired about 3 weeks ago (oops!), but I need more Devil's Claw and other witchy herbs (not to mention food), so I'm wondering whether I should risk the drive to get provisions.

If I should happen to get stopped, what's the worst they can do to me? Will I be locked up overnight and so miss the MOT appointment I've booked for tomorrow morning? Or will they only want my firstborn child? (Not that I have one to offer, but still...)

Don't do it, Niki! The MOT examiners make the Spanish Inquisition seem like an edition of Desert Island Discs. Not for nothing are their initials said to spell Many Other Tortures.

Mine ran out 3 weeks ago and I only renewed it last Friday. I drive the car every day. My memory is terrible... :-/

I have a voodoo doll (Madeleine) hanging from my rearview mirror, who must have seen me through all the days since the MOT expired. She jingles when evil is near and she makes bad things happen to people who are mean to me. However, her powers are not such that they help me remember one of the main reasons for taking the bus into town and, while I came back with books and herbs, I forgot to get food!

So that means a walk through the woods with my MP3 player to ASDA. At least walking will ensure I don't succumb to the lure of ice cream (Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough - mmmm), as I won't want it all soggy and melty after bringing it home in the sun.

My girlfriend's father used to work in car insurance. The second you get in your car without an MOT all your motor insurance cover expires. Not known for their philanthropy, insurance companies, if you're in an accident you're on your own. When you consider the consequences, it's easier to walk.

Thanks, Mark. Yeah, it's pretty grim.
And I know from previous jobs that insurance companies are the true scum of the earth.

So I DID walk today. Got lost on the way to ASDA (that old cliché "shortcut through the woods" never seems to lead where you think it will) and went about a mile out of my way, but hey, exercise is no bad thing.
And the sun was lovely!

I do know I'm legal to drive it to Halfords tomorrow to get it sorted. I've got the appointment slip to prove it.
And my voodoo doll if anyone contests it.

I'm out watching the sunset. Nice evening. Birdsong and the far-off clatter of a train on the railway.

Was just out watching the sunset over at Silverdale near where I live. Beautiful sight. Manchester in the distance, glowing in the fading light. Birdsong too, over rolling green slopes. Stopped there on my way back from work... which, is at an insurance company. Sorry! ;)

The sun is long since down here... there's a bat that keeps fluttering around the back door when I go out on the step for a cigarette. Bloody secondary smokers. Buy your own!

Oh, aye, the sunset is great where I live. Magnificent smears of colour in the sky, accompanied by the distant shriek of police sirens, the blaring of car and house alarms, kids screaming and laughing, and the incessant barking dogs that I never see, just hear. All the fucking time.

Oh, how glorious.

Have a word with me please Lynchy, I am suffering from Mix-paranoia.

(Mix-paranoia - the irrational mental collapse brought on by TOO MANY OPTIONS).

It'll never be ready...never...

Ah - that is Russian ballerina syndrome GCW! A Russian ballerina back in the 90's was asked which skirt she had chosen in a department store in the U.K. with dozens of options. Not one... came the reply. Why? Because in Russia we only have the choice of two skirts. It was too confusing...

Russian Ballerina Syndrome... Brilliant! I'll have to remember that one, Ally.
Always good when you can put a name to your pain.

You big pansy, GCW. Of all the things you could be suffering - degenerate rock'n'roll diseases - you are suffering from ballerina syndrome...

We may have to disown you!

Of course, if the way you contracted it involved nubile ballerinas, you may be forgiven...

As usual, all the hard-working beautiful ballet boys are neglected. So here's a couple for the ladies:
