Worst thunderstorm for many years. Huge black billowing clouds and flashing and waterfalls of rain and non-stop moving of God's furniture.
(N.E. Essex Coast - 8pm)

We came home to a flood in the back garden!

I hope the weather does not cause you too much trouble Des.

It seems to be easing off now. Just one of those weather events one will always remember. Skylight leaked a bit.
Are you close by, Martin? Hope your garden is OK and doesn't transmigrate into the house.

I was at work today and I heard the loudest thunderclap, and saw the flash of lightning. The chimney of a pub about 50 yards away was struck, raining bricks down into the street. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

I'm in Stoke-on-Trent Des... someone has to attempt to bring culture to the 'city'.

Big storm here in Norfolk too..I loved it, but it made Soozy a bit anxious, funny how such elemental power affects us in different ways.

We had a doozy around 6pm today - the roads were so wet that when I drove down the A217 (dual carriageway) I couldn't see where the pavement was - the whole road, pavements included, was just like a flowing river.

Gcw: I love thunderboomers, but we don't get too many on the California Coast; used to live in the U.S. Midwest and . . . indescribable, terrible beauty. I remember driving home one night into an open sky and see great whips of lightening cracking across a black sky.
